Kilmogue Portal Tomb

Leac an Scail, the hero's stone, still stands four metres tall on Brown Mountain's eastern slope, its granite doorstone angled toward the summer solstice sunrise. Built around 3000 BC, it may have marked a border, a burial or a promise, but the exact purpose has slipped into shadow. The name Kilmogue likely remembers St. Mogue's church, while Leac an Scail suggests a burst of light or a phantom's stone. Either way, the tomb still points at the rising sun like a finger kept raised across five thousand years.
