Kilgorman Church (in ruins)

Located at the crest of a small hill c. 250m S of the NW-SE Kigorman River, and c. 250m from the sea which is to the SE. This is the Parish church of Kilgorman in the diocese of Dublin, named after St. Gorman, whose pattern was on 25th October, according to John O'Donovan writing c. 1840 (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 1, 2–3) who mentions the remains of a church, now no longer evident. According to a Visitation by Thomas Ram, the Protestant bishop of Ferns, in 1615 Jacob Malone was the priest, but the condition of the church building was not recorded (Hore 1900-11, vol. 6, 273). The subrectangular graveyard (dims. c. 55m N-S; c. 40m E-W) is defined by an earthen bank, and it has a raised central area (dims 23m E–W; 18m N–S). There is a recumbent graveslab with a ringed cross in relief within the graveyard. The mound site (WX007-046----) is c. 20m to the SE, and the site of Kilgorman Well (WX007-015003-) is c. 20m outside the graveyard at SW.
