What is recorded here
Kilcloonagh Burial Gd (Disused) is a hidden burial ground in County Cork scrubland, marked Kildoo on an 1842 map. Heavy growth and a new western laneway have obscured the place, perhaps cutting through old graves. The dead may still lie beneath the bushes, waiting for someone to stop building and listen.
In scrubland on W-facing slope. Marked 'Kildoo' on OS 6-inch map (1842). Inaccessible due to heavy overgrowth. New laneway on W side may have interfered with burial ground.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
