Kilbally Holy Well is a natural spring trapped inside a substantial drystone wall on low-lying marshy ground in County Longford. The eastern entrance faces the approaching world while the associated holy bush watches the margin between water and land. People may have knelt at that narrow opening, believing the pressure of the stone and the depth of the marsh could carry a prayer further than ordinary words.
