Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Kesteil: Atlantic as Steamship (20th Century)-(1929). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The *Kesteil: Atlantic* was a 20th-century steamship built in 1929; it was lost at sea in 1931 during a storm off the Scottish coast. No survivors were reported, and it is believed to have been carrying general cargo; its wreck remains an important archaeological site for understanding early 20th-century maritime trade in Scottish waters.
