Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Iris as Steamship (period Unassigned)-(1883). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The *Iris* was a steamship built in 1883, wrecked off the Scottish coast. It sank with its cargo, though no loss of life was recorded, and it remains a notable example of 19th-century steamship technology in Scottish waters.
