Flemingtown industrial site, Ireland: Pre-development excavations in 2005 exposed bowl furnaces and pits used for metalworking, along with heavy quantities of ferric slag. The discovery points to a busy local workshop where heat, hammer and patience shaped useful things long before modern buildings covered the ground.

Pre-development investigations in 2005 revealed evidence for metalworking in the form of bowl furnaces with assocaited pits.
