What is recorded here

Indicated is a levelled fairy fort in County Kerry, reduced to a faint circular shadow on a north-facing slope. It still holds a possible underground passage, suggesting the cavity recorded in the 1840s remains buried beneath the pasture. The fort has been erased from the land but not forgotten, waiting beneath grass and rain for someone to remember its shape.

In pasture, on a N-facing slope. The remains of a rath are evident as a circular area (diam. 18m) defined by faint traces of an earthen bank (Wth c. 3.5m; H 0.05m). According to local information, the rath was levelled many years ago. It was indicated as a roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on the 1893-4 OS 6-inch map. There is a possible Man-made underground passage (KE067-073001-) in the interior. This is probably the rath, in which was a 'cavern', which was recorded in Tullaha townland in the 1840s (OSNB, Killaha, no. 2, 8).
