Immediately E of the townland boundary (c. 1m to E) between Spital-land and Hoops-lot. This well has been backfilled. In the mid-19th century a Roman oculist's stamp was found 'in a dyke on the rising ground above the green of the village of Golden Bridge, and in a plot of land four acres in extent, known by the name of the Spittle Fields or Lands' (Daffy 2002, 8). In Roman Britain these stamps are frequently found at the sites of curative cults at wells and springs and at related shrines found near boundaries.
