Indicated

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated is a levelled fairy fort in County Mayo pasture, still visible as a low circular ripple clipped by a modern boundary. It stood on a narrow ridge, watching the eastern and southern horizon before humans erased its edge. The land keeps the shape even when memory fails, suggesting the fort resisted forgetting longer than stone or timber could manage.
In pasture, located on N–S elevation, providing good views, especially to E and S, of the surrounding gently undulating terrain. This rath is shown on the 1838 and 1930 OS 6-inch maps as an oval embanked enclosure (c. 25m NW–SE; c. 20m NE–SW). It has been levelled. The outline can still be traced as a low circular undulation (c. 20m NNW–SSE; c. 18m ENE–WSW), clipped on the NW side by a property boundary on a NNE–SSW axis.
