What is recorded here
Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Runnabackan, County Roscommon, Ireland. The 1837 Ordnance Survey marked a sixty-metre circular enclosure on the southwest-facing slope of a small northwest-southeast spur. The earthwork is no longer visible in the pasture, although a ring-barrow stands thirty metres to the southeast.
Marked as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 60m) only on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on the SW-facing slope of a small NW-SE spur. It is not visible at ground level in pasture. Ring-barrow (RO034-078----) is c. 30m to the SE.
