On top of a drumlin in mixed woodland called Mullinashee Wood which had been recently cut in 1996. In 1535 Maelsechlainn Mc Cairbre O Birn was killed here by some MacDermots, (MacDermot 1996, 133; ALC vol. 2, 289). This is a circular enclosure (diam. c. 100m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5-4m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1m) and an outer fosse (Wth of top 4m; Wth of base 2.5m; D 0.7-1m). It is listed as a hillfort (O'Nuallain 1968, 26), and cairn (RO017-089002-) is at the centre. Rath (RO017-041----) is c. 120m to the NE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath) situated on a drumlin in Mullinashee Wood, likely dating to the early medieval period. It is associated with the 1535 killing of Maelsechlainn Mc Cairbre O Birn by the MacDermots.
