Indicated

In flat expanse pasture, straddling the break of slope of a steep E-facing slope, which falls into a small N-S stream valley. This enclosure is not shown on the 1837 edition OS 6-inch map; it is indicated on the 1919 edition map as a circular enclosure outlined by a solid line. On the 25-inch plan trees are shown in the interior. It is visible as a circular enclosure in an aerial photograph (OS 2 8787 -8; Roll 216, pr. 7; SMR file). It has been levelled but the circular outline (c. 29m E-W; 28.5m N-S) can still be discerned as a cropmark. The cropmark is visible as a band (Wth 1.3m) of differential grass growth, indicting the circuit of the original enclosing element, probably a ditch. The W two thirds of the interior enclosed level ground but the E third encompassed a steep E-facing slope with a drop in height of c. 2.5m.
