What is recorded here

Indicated was a forty-metre earthen ringfort in Galway pastureland, losing its west bank to destruction while keeping an eastern gap wide enough for one person to pass. It vanished beneath the soil until nettles and longer grass traced its hidden circle, proving the fort still occupied the land even when human eyes could no longer see its walls.

In level pastureland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 246, no. 19) as a circular ‘Earthen fort’ (diam. c. 40m), defined by two banks and an intervening fosse, which was ‘breached and destroyed on the west side’. There was an entrance gap (Wth c. 1.8m) to the E. The monument has been levelled and was evident as a circular area of longer grass and nettles.
