What is recorded here

Indicated is a circular fairy fort in County Kerry, Ireland, where an earth and stone bank still stands beside a scarp on a NE-facing slope. Trees grow along the rim, shading the level SW half and the downward NE half, while pasture stretches beyond the edge. The shape may match the rath named at Rathcommane in the 1940s, but the land keeps its own silence about who lived there or what the fort was meant to hold.

In pasture, on a NE-facing slope. A circular area (36m NE-SW; 34m NW-SE) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2.3m; int. H 1.4m; ext. H 0.7m) E-NW and by a scarp (ext. H 1.5m) with an external lip (int. H 0.35m) NW-E. Trees grow along the bank. The SW half of the interior is level while the NE half slopes downwards. This may be the rath mentioned in the 1940s as being 'situated at Rathcommane' (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry).
