Enclosure in Ballyhar

This potential feature was reported by Michael Connolly, County Archaeologist, Kerry County Council. It was identified by him during the course of an assessment of a 40 square mile area for the purpose of choosing a road route in 2000 to the north of Killarney. In dense deciduous plantation, on N side of Glanooragh river. Access not gained; Accessed via firebreak to W and reached within c. 45m to NW of the grid reference provided. Reported to the Archaeological Survey of Ireland as the low remains of a small enclosure. Deep land drain (long-axis N-S) between firebreak and forestry. No potential feature depicted at this location upon historic mapping. This area is obscured by forestry upon modern aerial photography indicating that the area of the potential feature may have been planted (OSi 2010; Bing 2015).
