Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

The fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Kilnamanagh is in County Sligo, Ireland. The 1838 Ordnance Survey map marked an embanked circular area about thirty metres across in flat pasture beside a disused railway line. The possible rath is no longer visible because railway construction probably levelled it.
In flat pasture, adjacent to or on a disused railway line. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as an embanked circular area (diam. c. 30m). This possible rath is not visible at ground level and was probably levelled during the construction of the railway. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
