On the summit of Muckelty Hill, with commanding views all round. A raised circular area (c. 13.5m E-W) defined by a scarp (H c. 0.5m) NE-WNW with a fosse (Wth 10m) NE-WNW. An outer drystone wall (Wth 5.6m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1m) is evident all round. A N-S field boundary crosses the E side of the barrow and a second extends W from it crossing the N half of the interior. A Neolithic passage tomb, dating to approximately 3500–2500 BCE. Its location on a prominent hilltop suggests ritual or ceremonial significance, typical of Neolithic funerary and communal sites in the region.
