Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Moyvannan, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a rise in an undulating landscape and contains a circular grass and scrub-covered area bounded by an overgrown earthen bank with traces of stone-facing. A fosse and outer bank surround part of the structure, while the entrance faces east-southeast. The monument is later than, and impinges on, another rath located immediately to its southeast.
On a rise in an undulating landscape. Circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 30.7m N-S; c. 29.2 E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 4.5-7m; int. H 0.2m at N to 0.85m at S; ext. H 0.9m at S to 1.2m at N) with traces of stone-facing. It is surrounded by a fosse (at NNE: Wth of top 4.7m; Wth of base 1m; D 0.5m) and an outer bank (at NNE: Wth 4m; ext. H 0.4m) SW-N-E. The entrance is at ESE. The monument impinges on and is later than rath (RO48-049002-) which is immediately to the SE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
