What is recorded here

Indicated is a vanished fairy fort at the head of the Roughty River valley, reduced to memory and a possible underground passage. Its circular shape appeared only on the 1895 map before the land was levelled, suggesting the fort may have been hidden, forgotten or deliberately erased. The story it tells is not about size but disappearance: a place so complete in the minds of others that it left no visible trace at all.

In pasture, on a S-facing slope, at the head of the valley of the Roughty River. This rath is not visible at ground level. It is indicated on the 1895 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m). According to the landowner, it was levelled some time ago. There is a possible Man-made underground passage (KE085-005001-) and a possible ogham stone (KE085-005002-) in the interior.
