What is recorded here

Indicated was a circular stone fort roughly thirty-six metres across in Galway pastureland, lost before modern cameras arrived. Residents called it a fairy fort and removed it in the early 1950s, perhaps fearing what sleep inside might reveal. A house now occupies part of its interior, building ordinary life upon a forgotten shape.

In gently undulating pastureland. Marked on the OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 36m). On inspection in November 1982 no visible surface trace survived. According to local information, it had been 'removed' in the early 1950s. The OSi digitalglobe aerial imagery (Google maps) indicates that a house was subsequently built in the SW quadrant of the interior.
