Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Lismurtagh (castlereagh By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. The circular grass-covered area sits on a gentle SW-facing plateau and contains a flat-bottomed fosse with a 2.3m ENE entrance. The bank and fosse have been quarried at NW, while another enclosure stands 160m to the S.
On a plateau with a gentle SW-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 39.7m ENE-WSW; 38m NNW-SSE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4-6m; int. H 0.4-0.7m; ext. H 0.9-1.4m E-S to 1.8-2m W-N), and a flat-bottomed fosse (Wth of top 7-7.5m; Wth of base 1.4-3m; D 0.3-0.5m) SW-NNE. The entrance (Wth 2.3m) is at ENE, and the bank and fosse have been quarried at NW. Enclosure (RO028-113001-) is c. 160m to the S. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
