
What is recorded here
At the SW edge of a plateau overlooking a turlough c. 200m to the SW. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 74m E-W; 64.4m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.4-4.4m; int. H 0.7-1m; ext. H 0.9-1.6m) which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.8m) N-NE and E-SE. The bank is separated by a berm (Wth 1m) from a fosse (Wth of top 6.2m; Wth of base 3.4m; int. D 1.1m; ext. D 0.9m) SSW-NW, and the entrance (Wth 1.8m) is at NNE. There is no evidence of a Man-made underground passage suggested by the word 'Cave' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Rath (RO028-112----) is c. 160m to the N.
