Indicated is a hazel-strangled ringfort at the foot of Cappanawalla Hill, where a broken earth bank still guards a flat interior above the Rathborney River. It has resisted clarity for centuries, appearing only as hachures on old maps and defaced shapes in written accounts. The vegetation does not hide the fort so much as complete it, turning human ambition into a living tangle that breathes with the valley.

Under hazel overgrowth, near the SW foot of Cappanawalla Hill, with views from S-NW over the valley floor and Rathborney River. Indicated on the 1842 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and hachured on the 1916 ed. It may be one of two forts described by Westropp (1901, 277) as ‘two greatly defaced forts’. Listed as a cashel in the RMP (1996). A very overgrown and largely inaccessible circular ringfort (diam. c. 25m [from map]) defined by a bank of earth and stone from E-SE (Wth 4-5m; H 0.4-1m) with some internal facing (H 0.3m) evident at E, and a low narrow bank covered by brambles and branches from SW-NW.
