Indicated

A mid/late 19th-century limekiln on the N side of a road. The front wall (H c. 5m; Wth c. 5m) is built of random rubble and a low buttress wall abuts its E end and a higher retaining wall abuts its W end. There is a central arched recess (H 1.9 m; Wth 2m; D 1.7m) with an inner lintelled arch and sloping slabs to the rear. A horizontal ledge crosses the front wall, 2.7m above the ground. There is a long earthen ramp at the rear. The stone-lined funnel (diam. 1.6m) is partly infilled.
