What is recorded here

Situated towards the S end of a low ridge in marshy terrain with gentle downhill slopes to the E, S and W. Circular area (diam. 32m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.5m; H 1-1.4m) and an external fosse (Wth 3.5m). There are three gaps in the bank, that at NE has a partly blocked gap (Wth 2m) with a possible causeway while those at W and S appear modern. A N-S field boundary cuts across the fosse at the E. A possible hut foundation consisting of a platform (diam. 8.5m; H 0.15m) is visible in the E sector of the site. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 December 2008
