Enclosure

What is recorded here

In pasture, encompassing a natural rise, with views most extensive to S over an expanse of rough pasture and bog, and to W over undulating grassland. This possible rath is shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a circular embanked enclosure; the N half appears to have been levelled by the time of the 1919 edition, where the enclosure is depicted as a semi-circular hachured area (diam. c. 35-40m E−W). It has been levelled; the ephemeral outline of a scarp, merging with a natural slope, can be discerned curving E–S. Immediately to W ground falls in a concave slope into a depression of wettish ground. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 26 January 2021
