What is recorded here

At SW end of Inishshark. A substantial earthen bank running in roughly a straight line from Aill na nUibheacha cove on NW shore of the island to Fó Duilisc cove on SE, a distance of c. 460m. This cuts off the whole SW end of the island. Consists of a drystone-revetted earthen bank (Wth c. 4m) topped by a later stone wall. There are intermittent traces of possible huts (GA009C001001-) set into the thickness of the bank and of a fosse on SW side. The wall may be of 19th-C origin but the bank is probably ancient and may possibly be the rampart of a promontory fort (pers. comm. M. Gibbons). A field system (GA009C002----) lies to SW of the bank.
