On the crest of a gentle E-facing pasture slope. According to Fitzsymons (1906, 104), ‘This moat, according to the present version of the story, was thrown up over the spot where the two bodies in the plague-shed were consumed. The hawthorns of the ballad are still growing upon it’. The ballad referred to is the Ballad of Oonah More and is associated with Inch Castle (KD035-026----) some 250m to the NW. A low sub-circular earthen mound (surface diams. 5.2m E-W; 4.3m N-S; H 0.7-1m) is enclosed by a shallow fosse NW-NE and SE-SW (D 0.1m; base Wth 2m; ext diam. N-S 14.8m).
