Graigue is an L-shaped limestone house and bawn on a flat-topped rise in County Tipperary, its walls still marking a courtyard twenty-eight metres long. The south wall stands six metres high with a blocked entrance, while a first-floor passage once dropped waste into the southeast angle. Pasture now fills the yard, but the surviving stone still outlines a place built to keep people, animals and secrets inside one rigid line.

Located on the NE edge of a flat-topped rise of outcrop, in pastureland. An L-plan house (TN047-060001) which incorporates the N and E walls of an enclosing bawn (28m N-S x 23m E-W), both constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble. The house itself is poorly preserved with only the lower portion of the S gable intact, however small portions of walling, wall collapse and foundations give a clear outline of the building (ext. dims. N-S portion of house c. 17.8m N-S, 7.8m E-W; E-W portion of house c. 18m E-W, 7.9m N-S; wall T 0.9m). There is a mural passage at first-floor level in the S gable leading to a garderobe chute in the SE angle. The S wall of the bawn (H c. 6m; T 1m) is best preserved with an entrance (Wth 1.6m) roughly centrally placed - this was subsequently blocked-up. A hammer-dressed corbel projects out of the W end of the external face of the S wall of the bawn. There may have been a corresponding corbel on the E side of the entrance but the masonry has collapsed out. Only a short length of the W wall stands upright, the remainder of the bawn is defined by collapsed masonry. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary.
