Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Garrynphort (athlone South By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. The circular feature measured about forty metres across on the 1837 and 1915 OS 6-inch maps and stood on a shelf overlooking Lough Croan turlough, forty-five hundred metres to the northeast. Removal around 1970 erased the earthwork from the pasture, leaving no visible trace at ground level.
Marked as a circular feature (diam. c. 40m) on the 1837 and 1915 eds of the OS 6-inch maps, and situated on a shelf overlooking Lough Croan turlough c. 450m to the NE.
