What is recorded here

Just off the summit of an E-W ridge, on the N-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 41.4m E-W; 39.8m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.9-4.1m; int. H 0.1-0.6m; ext. H 1.3-1.8m) with inner facing-stones SE-SW which is reduced to a scarp (H 1.5m) SW-NW, separated by a fosse (Wth of top 3.9-5.6m; Wth of base 2.2-2.6m; D 1-2m) from an outer bank (Wth 3.9-4.9m; ext. H 0.3-0.6m), which has inner and outer facing-stones at N. The outer bank is removed and the fosse re-cut as a drain NNE-SE (max. ext. diam. 58m N-S). The original entrance is not identified, and both banks and the fosse are overgrown. Rath (RO023-056----) is c. 130m to the W, rath (RO023-057----) is c. 200m to the SW, and rath (RO023-059----) is c. 220m to the ENE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
