Enclosure

What is recorded here

Situated on a low rise in lowlying, level pasture. Depicted as a circular enclosure on the 1837 edition of the OS 6-inch map. Raised oblong platform (32m E-W; 15m N-S; H 0.8-1m) enclosed by a shallow fosse (Wth 4m; max. ext. D 0.6m at W) with ephemeral remains of a possible outer bank at WSW–NW. At the outer lip of the fosse from SE-S-W is a modern field boundary which respects the curve of the enclosure. To E of centre, a N–S bank (Wth 3m; H 0.4m) divides the platform into unequal portions. The larger W portion of the platform is defined around its edge S–NNW by remnants of a bank. In the SE corner of the larger W portion of the platform there is a possible hut site (SL017-005002-) Much of the space in the smaller E portion of the platform is occupied by a circular sub-enclosure or possible house (SL017-005003-).
