What is recorded here

In pasture, located on the gentle N-facing slope of a knoll/small ridge. There are good views, except to SE where they are blocked by a higher knoll. A circular, earthen platform (7.7m N-S; 8.3m E-W) defined by a low bank (Wth c. 2m; int. H 0.1m at N, 0.3m at S; ext. H 1.4m at N, 0.6m at S). The bank has a well defined external slope but retains only a slight internal lip. The interior slopes down slightly to NW, reflecting the natural slope of the knoll. The platform is grass cover, with hawthorn bushes growing around the perimeter. This monument is difficult to classify. It may be a circular house site, possibly associated with the rath which is 40 to N. Alternatively it might be a form of barrow, although there is no trace of a fosse. On the 1837 OS 6-inch map a rectangular building/house is shown immediately to W so there is a possibility that it might be the remains of a small vernacular enclosure/structure related to that settlement.
