What is recorded here

Indicated is a hidden stone ringfort in County Mayo, Ireland. It is a circular cashel with a thick wall, now buried under scrub and forgotten by most people. The stones still stand, but the land has taken the place back.
In rough pasture, on a rise, surrounded by scrub. Roughly circular area (diam. c. 50m), enclosed by substantial stone wall (Wth 2.2m: H 1m). Site is totally overgrown. The above description has been derived from D. Lavelle (compiler), An Archaeological Survey of Ballinrobe and District including Lough Mask and Lough Carra. Lough Mask and Lough Carra Tourist Development Association (1994), No. 276. Date of upload: 12 February 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
