Freestanding single-bay three-stage cylindrical windmill tower, extant 1838, on a circular plan. In ruins, 1925. Roof now missing. Coursed rubble limestone walls retaining fragments of lime rendered or roughcast surface finish with Irish battlemented parapet. Square-headed opposing door openings with hammered limestone lintels supporting hammered or squared limestone voussoirs. Square-headed window openings (upper stages) with hammered limestone lintels supporting hammered or squared limestone voussoirs. Set in unkempt grounds shared with Newbrook House.

A folly-like windmill tower not only regarded as an important component of the industrial heritage of south County Mayo, but also surviving as an interesting relic of the much diminished Newbrook House estate following the destruction (1837) of the nearby country house (see 31310027) and its subsequent demolition by the Irish Land Commission (reconstituted 1923; Quinn 1996 III, 285).
