What is recorded here

Indicated is a tiny circular crannog in Bunlough, County Cavan, hidden beneath dense vegetation twenty-five metres from the shore. Davies found a log platform reinforced with criss-cross beams, piles and stones, along with animal remains and a lead musket bullet. The platform may have served as a private dwelling, hunting stand or seasonal refuge, while the bullet suggests it remained occupied long after muskets became common.

Not marked on OS 1836 or 1876 eds. Very small circular island (diam. c. 15m) in BunLough, c. 25m from the shoreline. Densely overgrown with vegetation. Davies (NMI Survey 1941) recorded a log platform 'with criss-cross beams laid out, piles to hold the whole structure in place, and stones laid on top of these'. He also found animal remains and a lead musket bullet.
