What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort on a Monaghan hill, its circular grassy bowl wide enough for a dozen people to walk beside one another. The eastern and western edges still show a curving bank and hedge, but the northern and southern boundaries have vanished into ordinary field. People may have lived inside the ring before forgetting it, or the fairies may have taken the shape back when the walls thinned. Either way the hill keeps a round hole in the land where a house should be.
Located on the summit of a hill. A curving field bank and hedge E-S-W enclosing a circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 36m E-W) could incorporate the perimeter of a rath. There is no visible fosse or evidence of the perimeter W-N-E. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revised upload: 22 June 2018

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
