Suppose a worker at the quarry in Cloonlusk finished a small load and was told the cart could take another shovelful. The driver watches that shovelful become six, then asks whether the worker plans to come along and push.
In low-lying, reclaimed and gently undulating pastureland. No visible surface trace survives of a hachured feature marked on the 1932 edition of the OS 6-inch map. According to the landowner, it was a small quarry that was filled in during reclamation works. As it was of post-AD 1700 date it does not come within the remit of the Archaeological Survey of Ireland.
