What is recorded here
On gently undulating pasture on the W slope 100m E of the Colonel’s Island in the River Maigue with pathway running past enclosure 30m to SW. Not depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. On the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map and later OSi maps the enclosure is depicted as a stand of coniferous and deciduous trees within an enclosure. Not depicted as an antiquity on any ed. OSi map. Inspected by the ASI in 2001 and described as a patch of roughly circular ground with no enclosing element (Wth 25m). The small tree-ring had only 4 deciduous trees standing, the remainder had fallen or were removed. The enclosure remains are visible on Google earth orthophotos taken 28/06/2018 and 14/02/2020. Probably the remains of a tree-ring of post-1700 date.
