Indicated is an inland promontory fort in County Mayo, Ireland. A long dry-stone wall spans a narrow neck of land, separating Doon Wood from the open lake shore. Two old enclosures sit at the western edge near the water, while a later gateway and field fence mark the place as lived-with rather than forgotten. The fort still stands as a boundary drawn in stone, shaping how people moved through wood, water and sky.

On narrow neck of land cutting off extensive area of tree and scrub known as Doon Wood. Well built wall (L 114m; Wth 15m; H 2.2m) of dry-stone masonry extends across entire width of neck of land. Gap (Wth 3m) in centre is probably a much later gateway. Field fence runs along top of site. Two enclosures, (MA099-018002-) and (MA099-018003-) are situated at the W end of the enclosed area, beside lakeshore. The above description has been derived from D.
