What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Carricknagat (leyny By.), County Sligo, Ireland. It occupies high ground overlooking the Collooney-Sligo road to the east as an oval area twenty-eight metres north-south and eighteen metres east-west. A two-metre scarp defines the boundary though overgrowth partially covers it and adjacent field boundaries have disappeared. The 1838 Ordnance Survey six-inch map marked this embanked oval area before modern survey work confirmed its dimensions.

On high ground overlooking the Collooney-Sligo road to E. An oval area (28m N-S; 18m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 2m), which is partially covered with overgrowth. The adjacent field boundaries have been removed. The rath is indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as an embanked oval area (c. 25m NW-SE; c. 18m NE-SW).
