Indicated

In a sheltered hollow in high (between the 600’ and 700’ contours) improved pasture with limited views except over lower ground to SSE. Indicated on the first edition (1842) and hachured on the later, Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as enclosure in the RMP (1996). This large, tree-covered, suboval-shaped rath (int. diams. 58m N-S; 36m E-W) is defined by a low, broad earth and stone bank which is best preserved N-E (Wth 4m; int. H c. 0.7m; ext. H 0.4m). The bank is lower and narrower elsewhere (Wth 2.5-3.7m; int. H 0.6-0.7m; ext. H 0.3-0.4m). A boulder (H 0.9m) displaced from the inner face of the bank is visible at N. A gap (Wth 1.3m) at NNE appears to be relatively modern and immediately to its N there is a kink in a later wall which overlies the original bank. The interior contains a hut site (CL010-039002-), several field-clearance cairns and short sections of possible walling, a slab set on edge and natural outcropping rocks.
