Indicated

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Indicated is a subcircular enclosure in County Clare, Ireland, where a field boundary now crosses ancient traces. Rough pasture and scrub still cover the site, while many other cashels and cairns cluster nearby to the north. The place preserves a rare quietness, holding the shape of human occupation beneath ordinary landscape.
In an unreclaimed area of rough pasture and scrub. Partially indicated as an outline on the 1916 OS 6-inch map. A subcircular area (diam. c. 45m; max. ext. diam. c. 60m) defined by a field boundary that is superimposed from SW to SE. Traces of a fosse can be made out on OSi MapGenie orthophotography (2013-2018) curving from SE to SW. Many other cashels and cairns lie close by to the N.
