What is recorded here

Marked as a small circular wooded feature (diam. c. 20m) on the 1837 and 1928 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a gentle N-facing slope, c. 450m WSW of Fort George House. Described as a small subcircular platform (dims 19m E-W; 17m N-S) defined by a fosse (Gannon 1972). It is now visible in grassland as a circular area (diam. 22m) defined by slight traces of a fosse (Wth 1.5m; D 0.1m). It may have been a tree-ring, and enclosure (RO035-051----) is c. 130m to the ENE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
