What is recorded here
Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballyglass (tireragh By., Dromore Ed), County Sligo, Ireland. It occupies the east side of a north-northwest to south-southeast ridge overlooking a bend in the Doonbeakin River. A raised circular area twenty-two metres wide sits within a largely levelled earth and stone bank, while faint remains of a second bank appear three to four metres outside the first. At the southeast, the outer bank extends outward to enclose a rectangular area measuring twelve by ten metres.
Situated at the E side of a NNW-SSE ridge overlooking a bend in the Doonbeakin River c. 15m downslope to NE. Raised circular area (diam. 22m) enclosed by a largely levelled bank (Wth c. 4.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.9m) of earth and stone. Between 3m and 4m out from the outer foot of this bank are ephemeral remains of a levelled second bank. At SE the outer bank, which at this point is relatively intact (Wth. 2.8m; ext. H 0.8m), appears to breaks from its regular curvilinear circuit and extends outwards to enclose an approximately rectangular area (12m NW–SE; 10m NE–SW).
