Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballyeeskeen, County Sligo, Ireland. It occupies the northeast side of a natural north-south pasture rise and consists of a slightly raised circular area nearly twenty-five metres across. A substantial earth-and-stone bank surrounds the interior, leaving a three-metre eastern gap that may mark the original entrance. A separate small mound sits twenty metres to the southeast.
In pasture, situated on the NE side of a naturally-occurring N-S rise in pasture. Slightly raised circular area (diam. 24.6m) enclosed by a substantial bank of earth and stone (Wth 5.9m; int. H 0.65m at N, 0.9m at S; ext. H 1.7m at N, 0.9m at S). A break (Wth 3m)in bank at E may represent original entrance. There is a small mound (SL012-044002-) c. 20 to SE. Compiled by: Patrick F.
