What is recorded here

Indicated is a levelled fairy fort in County Limerick, Ireland, still visible as a roughly circular grassy area beside a pasture slope. It may have been a small human dwelling, a boundary marker, or a place where people left bread crumbs for the fairies because they believed the fort belonged to them. The land remembers the shape even when the field has forgotten the name.

In pasture, on W-facing slope. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1841 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. However, it is still apparent as roughly circular area (46m N-S; 44m E-W) defined by a scarped edge (H 0.45m; Wth 3m) WSW->NW and NNE->E. Elsewhere band of stunted grass delimits edge of site.
