What is recorded here

On a gentle N-facing slope, overlooking a stream c. 50m to N. A raised oval area (40m N-S; 33m E-W) enclosed by a flat-topped earthen bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.2m) except along the E and NW arcs where a scarp exists. An external fosse (Wth 3.7m; D 0.1m) is evident NNW-SE. There are numerous gaps in the bank. A drainage ditch skirts the bank along the NW arc. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
