What is recorded here
At the base of a hillock and within a network of relict field boundaries (KE102-088011-). Described in 2000 as the remains of an oval hut site (3.2m E-W; 1.6m N-S) defined by a drystone wall (T 0.65m; H 0.6m). The partially grassed-covered lower courses of the wall protruded above the surface of the shallow bog. There was an entrance (Wth 0.6m) at SE. On a subsequent inspection in 2007 there were no visible remains of this hut site, the land having been reclaimed and reseeded.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
